Free Intro Call

Before starting therapy, let’s get to know each other in a free 25–30 minute online call. Intro calls are held on Saturdays and Sundays.

What is an intro call in therapy?

The intro call is a free, 25–30 minute online conversation before therapy starts. It is not a therapy session; its aim is to get to know each other and assess together how I can help you.

In this call

  • I briefly listen to what brings you here and what you hope for.
  • I explain how I work, how often and how long sessions are, and the principles of confidentiality.
  • I answer your questions; then we decide together on the right next step for you.

What do you need for an online call?

  • A quiet, private place where you can talk freely
  • A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and internet
  • Headphones (not required, but recommended)
  • I send the call link by e-mail beforehand

Why it is free, whether there is an age limit, the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist and other questions are answered further down this page ↓.

Ask for an Intro Call

Why is the intro call free?

One of the things that matters most in therapy is a relationship of trust between client and therapist. The best way to find out whether it suits you is to meet.

The intro call is there so you can meet me, see how I work and ask your questions before paying anything. It is not a therapy session: no diagnosis is made and no treatment starts.

At the end we decide together whether this work suits your needs. If needed, I refer you to a better-suited specialist or service. You are under no obligation to continue.

Common questions

Why do people start therapy?

A problem does not have to be "big enough" for therapy. Some people come during a hard time such as anxiety, low mood, relationship problems or a loss; others to know themselves better, understand recurring patterns or change something in their lives.

Anything that affects your daily life, relationships, work or sleep, that has lasted a long time or that is hard to carry alone is a valid reason to seek support.

Who can have therapy?

Therapy is for anyone going through a hard time or wanting to understand something about themselves. You do not need to be "ill" or to have a diagnosis.

Sometimes a psychiatrist’s assessment is needed alongside therapy; if I see such a need, I will talk about it with you openly.

Is there an age limit?

There is no upper age limit; support is possible at any age. There are age-appropriate approaches for children and adolescents too.

Under-18s need the consent of a parent or legal guardian. That is why the form asks for your age range.

What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has specialised in psychiatry; they diagnose and, when needed, prescribe medication.

A psychologist has studied psychology; clinical psychologists add a master’s degree in clinical psychology. Psychologists do not prescribe; they work with psychotherapy and psychological assessment.

The two often complement each other: in some cases the best results come from therapy and medication together.

How does online therapy work?

Sessions are held by video; I send the link by e-mail. A quiet place where you can talk freely and a good internet connection are enough.
